Amiante STR received an enquiry from Steele Safety, asking for a quotation to assist them with the refurbishment of one of their properties to make good ready for resale.
Our management team attended site 2 days later to make an assessment and to ensure an accurate quotation could be produced.
The site visit highlighted the larch cladding had been installed after the asbestos soffits, therefore creating an issue with taking the soffit panels out whole. The point raised with the client at tender stage to discuss options and to obtain an understanding of the level of refurbishment being completed.
Once finalising all correspondence and ensuring the client was fully aware of the project requirements, Amiante STR secured the project.
Site works commenced with the construction of the 1st enclosure. The project design incorporated the use of the internal kitchen and dining area as the site welfare, along with the WC after approval from the client. Clear access to the welfare went through the back or front elevation according to which enclosure was currently being worked.
During the visit we came across a bat roost behind the laps, a bees nest above the soffits. We informed the client who in turn involved the ecologists to ensure the wildlife was managed according to current legislation.
A further unannounced visit from the local HSE inspector, further confirmed the project had been planned and was being executed to an exemplary standard. No actions were given or observations made.
The client was kept up to date with all developments and discussions to allow us to complete the works as expected from a LARC. This was made easier by having a client who worked with us to achieve the standards required and were prompt with decision making and acceptance of their duties.
The project continued and was completed on time and on budget, despite the interruptions. The project showcased how Amiante STR go to work and our flexibility to react to unforeseen situations.
