Asbestos cement was used as roof sheeting in domestic garages, workshops, warehouses & industrial properties up to the 1990’s. It had an expected “life expectancy” of approx. 40 years, this means that a lot of asbestos roofs that were installed in the early 80’s or late 70’s are now coming to the end of their functional use and will need to be replaced due to leaks etc.
Amiante’s asbestos contractors were instructed by their client (a roofing contractor) to remove approx. 25m2 of asbestos cement roof sheeting & front gable end panels to a former garage prior to the roof being replaced with a modern material. Although this may be considered a “small job, appropriate steps were taken to make sure the job ran safely and smoothly.
