Holland & Barrett, Europe’s leading retailer of vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements are continuing their programme of refurbishing and upgrading their stores within the UK.
As a company, they are committed to dealing with asbestos issues proactively, and part of that approach is to commission an asbestos survey of each property prior to refurbishment.
Amiante asbestos contractors have worked with Holland & Barrett for the past four years and were asked to undertake an asbestos survey at a former Barratts’ shoe store in London.
Amiante STR’s Involvement – Survey and Asbestos Removal
Amiante STR Ltd carried out an asbestos demolition survey and asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were identified within the store; expected and typical in these type and age of the building.
Holland and Barratt required commercial asbestos removal of the ACMs before the shop refitting commenced and Amiante STR carried out the asbestos removal works required; having safely removed the asbestos, the Certificate of Reoccupation was issued to the client.
Outcome of Project
The survey and removal programme was project managed and carried out in line with the client’s tight deadlines and once completed and the Certificate of Reoccupation issued, the property was then handed over to the shopfitters to enable them to revamp the store.
Tim Foster, project manager with Holland & Barrett commented –
“Amiante STR provide us with a reliable, trustworthy and professional service taking into account all our requirements and offering the most efficient solutions in all applications. I am very happy to recommend Amiante STR.”
